A Life Unraveled (Completed – 95,000 words)

Believing that another pregnancy is her only hope for happiness, Katie Wilcox waits month after month for the two pink lines to appear. They never do. An unexpected phone call distracts her from her mundane routine, and she finds out that the stories of her parent's death were lies crafted to cover up a scandalous pregnancy and subsequent abandonment. Now she finds herself in a predicament; acknowledge this unknown man who claims to be her grandfather or ignore him?

Money drives Benjamin Hartley, and he knows how to use it to his advantage. He decides to use it, and his power, to invade the life of his unsuspecting granddaughter; a woman he's never met, yet has watched for the last twenty-eight years. If she will only give him a chance, perhaps he can make his life worth more than bottom-line figures and stock prices. It has to be now; his prognosis isn't good.

She only did what she thought she should do. That's what Rosemary Barnett has told herself for the last twenty-eight years. Now everything has changed, and Benjamin thinks he's going to be in control. But Rosemary knows Katie, and she won't be impressed with his money or gifts...or will she? All Rosemary ever offered was love and understanding, a place for Katie to call home. Now that man threatens to take that all away from her, and she won't be silent this time.
