MONOHULL
2009 brings a new elapsed time record for West to East. Bill Bolen's Melges 32, Bad Fish completed the course in 15:40:50
Stand Aside Thompson 870 owned by Bill Bollin set a new elapsed time record West to East in 2007 with an elapsed time of 19h 23m 21s.
Sagitta, Jon Somes J44 holds the East to West and course record for a monohull with a elapsed time on the course of 18h 59m 25s with an average speed of 7.37kts. This record was set in 2000.

MULTIHULL
2005s record setting year has set a tough standard for the multihull class to top. Jim Lyden’s Corsair 27 trimaran, Panacea, set a new multihull elapsed time record, finishing in 14 hours, 44 minutes
Earth Voyager, Ryan Howe's Formula 60 trimaran unseated Bruce Geffens West to East course record for multihulls in 2003 with an elapsed time of 15h 54m 30s with an average speed of 8.8 kts
In 1997 the elapsed time standard was set by Jerry Frabutt's Capo 30 in a heavy air upwind beat from Erie to Grosse Ile. Jazzy's elapsed time was 28h 22m 50s.  This time would only last for a year.  In 1998 another Jerry,   Jerry Deimel in his Frers 50, Trader completed the course in 26h 4m 50s.  In 1999 the race started switching directions bi-annually.  In the first race from Grosse Ile, MI to Erie Pa, Dr. Robert Coleman’s Soverel 39, Hellion, set a new monohull course elapsed time record of 21 hours, 23 minutes, and 36 seconds.  In 2000 all  records were blown out of the water when both Sagitta,J44 and Endo, a Crowther 38 catamaran established new records for both the monohull and multihull fleet.  The 2001 race from west to east was an upwind affair.   It was a slow race but a west to east record for the multihulls was established by Ray Howe's Green 60 trimaran Earth Voyager, with an elapsed time of 25h 15m 55s. In 2003, Earth Voyager knocked another 9 hours off this pace with an elapsed time of 15h 54m 30s.
