GETTING TO GIYC FROM LAKE ERIE

Under 7' Draft

From Northwest Lake Erie, proceed to the Livingston shipping channel.  Proceed up(north) the Livingston channel to a green unlit spar buoy DL 7.Leave this spar buoy to port and proceed on a course of 300 M for 1 NM to unlit buoy RN2.  Proceed up the sugar island cut leaving the red nuns to starboard and the green cans to port.  R8 buoy is the only lit buoy 4S.  Do not go east of this buoy due to rocks!!  GIYC is a yellow colored building which is well lit at night.  The entrance to the harbor is marked with a green and red light.  This is the quickest method to GIYC.  It should only be used by boats with less than 7’ draft.  See  additional instructions for deeper draft boats. Bring a flashlight to find buoys after dark.  Call GIYC on Channel 72 if you need assistance getting to the club.  A chase boat may be available to assist.  There is 8’ of water in the harbor enterance.
