| Cities across the nation have taken stands against telemarketers: | |
| The TCPA is the
Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (47 USC 227) This was a law passed by the United
States Congress and covers the entire United States. It instructed the Federal
Communications Commision to create rules concerning telemarketing. The FTC enacted telemarketing rules in January of '96. It does not allow a citizen to collect damages unless the loss is above $50,000.00. The FTC rules are are more concerned with business practices such as fraud and deception. The FCC rules are technical requirements such as solicitor identification, time of day restrictions, fax advertisements, prerecorded calls, and maintaining a do-not-call list. There are various consumers protection laws & federal telemarketing laws and a lot of information about how to reduce unwanted calls. |

| Embarrassd when asked
"what you do for a living" You have the world's most despicable dead-end job in America and are considered the most annoying pest since the invention of the house fly. |
|
| My favorite things to do to piss them off: | |
| Let them go through their entire
spiel, then say, "I'm sorry, I'm hard of hearing. Would you repeat that?" I'd do
that several times until they finally caught on and hung up Tell them to hang on, put the phone down and walk away. Eventually they'll get the hint. Tell them, with a fake accect (one of your choosing) that you don't speak English. |
