Our doctor referred to our child during her delivery as "sweetie". After she was born, it was determined that she weighed exactly 5 pounds. The nurses all remarked that she was a "big" baby for her age.

Each family member was given a rosebud pin to mark the significance of this day, and to remember our loss.

We were also given a certificate with these words:

"Like the image of a rosebud not yet to bloom so will the precious memory of our child, not long with us, live in our hearts forever."

I thought it quite odd that the 1 thing I had mentioned to Pastor Zimmerman on the 13th was the Heaven rose, and now, at the hospital, we were being given rose mementos. Was this just a coincidence, or was there more to it than that?

For some reason, the intern who drew blood to run medical tests later that night felt compelled to draw 5 vials worth instead of the normal 4. She stated that standard procedure called for no more than 4 vials, but for some reason, she felt the need to do 5.

5 has always been our favorite number. How strange that this number seemed to be popping up everywhere in the most unusual ways. Julie also weighed 5 lbs. exactly, and all the hospital staff was quite emphatic about the exactly...
