Forest of Blood: Chapter 1

Jedrik explained, "This land is said to have been the site of a battle beyond measure, before Rivnor was anything more than a small band of villages with the hope of greater things to come." Motioning to the flowers as they travelled on, "The flowers are said to bloom where ever any of the Alliance against the Evil One died . The magic in this land is strong. It is said the flowers sprouted and bloomed within days of the battle's end."

Gesturing around at the flowers he continued, "The curse of the land, however, is that they are blood red. Their scent, truly, is said to carry the stench of the spilled blood of those fallen heros. It isn't noticeable to us, but to animals, this land reeks of death. Even our war horses are skittish and difficult to control. Even when we travel past these lands, if the wind blows just right, it is not uncommon for a war horse to falter and misstep. Such is the power of the magic that lays dormant here."

Cromar blinked. Something caught his eye to the right; a small clearing. But what was in this clearing was what had his attention. A look of surprise to Jedrik, who returned it with a look of amusement. "Ah. So you've noticed, have you."
