THE DAUGHTER AND THE DEVIL PHOTO
I obtained this photo from the original
at the Elgin Granite Works. This image is now some 70 years old. Here is the
following story that goes along with this image. This was told to me by Fred
Eggebrecht, who was the owner of the Granite Works.
" A girl of 4 years of age had died in the 1930's. Her parents had
purchase a marble statue of an angel (see it to the right). Fred went out to take a
photograph of the statue to have it on display in the shop of the Granite
Works. One day the mother of the deceased daughter walked in, saw the photo,
and fainted dead away. As she woke up the mother stated that she could see her
daughter in the photo and directly above her was the image of the devil. She
was tormented by this image because she thought her daughter had gone to HELL.
This was extremely upsetting to her for many years to come. She could never
erase the memory of seeing her daughter with the devil.
