From the shores of New Zealand
With a surfboard under his arm
He set out to make his mark
He set out to cause some harm
All around him nothing but ocean
Up above an endless sky
Then one day down on the horizon
Was it a cloud or maybe a mountain?
Pulling ashore he knew he had arrived
The natives were waving, they didn't want to fight
Their smiling faces struck him kind of odd
He saw a chance to be a Sweet Potato God
Out on the waves, he surfed like they couldn't believe
At his command was the raging sea
Back on the beach, they fell to their knees
Back on the beach, they felt ill at ease
All the women there in the palm of his hand
They loved to here him speak of faraway lands
The native men could only watch in awe
They didn't want to anger Sweet Potato God
There on the shore of Oahu
With a surfboard under his arm
He set out to impress the girls on the beach
He set out to test his godly reach
But the women turned, and boarded their bus
The tourists were cranky, they argued and they fussed
Back to the hotel, the pool and the lodge
They had never heard of a Sweet Potato God
