This family tree is based on a project by Leonard E. Cluley which was completed in 1961, tracing the descendants of George Mogg (1820 - 1896) who immigrated to America from England. Several additions and corrections have been (and continue to be) made to the original document. Please keep in mind that much of the information is over 35 years old, so residence and career information will likely be out-of-date. I welcome your input and comments. In addition to the material on these pages, I have electronic copies of photos, documents, etc. which I could not display in these pages due to space limitations on the server. Please feel free to contact me at the following e-mail address: dmurphy3530@wideopenwest.com.
Names have been arranged in order of descent, with the family of the oldest child listed first. The number which appears to the left of the name indicates the order of descent from George Mogg. The "M" stands for Mogg, the oldest child is numbered "1", the next child is "2", etc. Each succeeding generation adds a number to the right. For example, the number "M12" would indicate the second child of the first child of George Mogg. To get around the problem of families with more than 10 children, an "x" is inserted to indicate children after number 9; the tenth child is "x0", the eleventh "x1", etc.
There are several ways to navigate around the tree. If you know the name and possibly the birth date of a person, you can click on the Index links below, which contain an alphabetized list by last name of all names in the tree. Once you find the desired name, click on the number to the left of it to go to the first appearance of this person in the tree. Another way to get into the tree (if you know the number of the branch you want) is to click on the page links below. For example, to view the children of George Mogg, click on "M0".
Once you are in the tree, you can navigate forward and back along generation lines. Children of a "main entry" for a person are listed under his or her name (main entries are those with the name highlighted). If a child has a main entry of their own, their name will be underlined; click on it to go to their main entry. In this way, you can progress forward down generational lines. To go back (to see the parents of a person in a "main entry"), click on the underlined number to the left of their name.

Please note: due to issues with the server, many of the links, including the index, do not work properly when accessing from the Internet. Also, if you are using a dialup connection, some pages may take a long time to load due to their large size. The best way to get around these problems is to download the self-extracting zipped copy of these pages (see below).
Click here to download a self-extracting, zipped doc-format version of the Mogg family tree (compatible with WordPad and Microsoft Word 6.0 or later).
Click here to download a self-extracting, zipped copy of these web pages.
To extract the files from the downloaded zipped files, first create a new directory and move the zipped file to it. Then run the zipped file as you would a program; it will un-zip itself automatically.
To view the web page files with most web browsers, you can open them with your web browser's File menu Open command. Start by opening the file "TreeIndx.htm" (this page); you can follow the links from there to navigate the entire set of pages.
