Originally with was called "9 out of 10 Selenites Agree That the Moon is Made of Swiss Cheese".  I know, very long. And probably one of the reasons I call this my Dairy Barn reject for Bead International 08.  I made this doll for the Detroit MI conference of NIADA. There was a challenged called "Over the Moon".  This is my very first original three-dimensional doll.  I used a Styrofoam ball for the head, and boiled wool felt for the body, which was then felted over to give a contrast look of natural fibers to the sparkle of the glass beads.  The Moon itself is a felted Styrofoam ball that was felted with undyed mohair wool.  Akira Blount and Mary Ellen Frank critiqued this piece for me, and gave me the idea of a star filled base and a more organic looking spoon.  I loved the teeth of the Moon Man.  It is probably my favorite part. They are dyed stick pearls.  For those who are unfamiliar, a Selenite is the name given to the creatures seen to live on the Moon during a Hoax at the end of the 19th century.  They looked more like Big Foot, but I remember my Dad telling me about the little green men who lived on the Moon eating the Swiss cheese.
