Welcome to my web site. I'm Speedie Beadie or Dot Lewallen from Columbus Ohio. Many people have asked me where did I get the Speedie Beadie name. Well, my best friend, Cynthia, gave me the name. I'd flown out to Seattle taking her a puppy, and after an afternoon of puppy breath, we decided to sit and bead relaxing in front of the television. I was weaving a bracelet with seed beads and fire polish, when she looks over and exclaims, "My, you are a speedy beader!" It stuck, and yes, I am! My speed probably comes from all the years previously of my doing embroidery and cross-stitch. I never started to bead until 2002, and then got hooked.
Besides beading, my other passion is doll making. I am taking all the skills I've learned in sewing, and beading to explore the future of beaded art dolls. It is a joyous ride of discovery and exploration using different techniques and material pushing my creativity. Along the way, I've also been able to meet the most talented and inspiring artist around the globe. I'm so lucky to have found an amazing group of women right here in Columbus. They are the Guilded Lilies, a doll-making guild. They encourage me, push me, teach me, cheer me, and are my friends. I'm blessed to have them.
