     Halloween Pet Safety

Halloween is here again--time to take your little goblins (or princesses, or space aliens) out begging for candy.  Or maybe you are like us and you don't do the door to door thing, but there are still lots of parties and other opportunities to wear costumes and eat candy.

Remember that all of the costumes and activities seem very different to your pets.  I'm pretty sure dogs and cats don't even have a concept of "spooky fun".  So you probably want to leave them home and indoors on trick-or-treat night.  And, since people sometimes do bad things to black cats around Halloween, they should not be outside at all this time of year.

If you have Halloween goodies in the house, make sure they are kept somewhere out of the reach of even the most ambitious pets.  Chocolate can be poisonous to cats and dogs, but they don't know that, so you need to be extra careful to protect them from themselves!
